Discussion Questions

CG questions written by John Park.

  1. What does extravagant and authentic worship look like do you? What holds you back from extravagant and authentic worship?
  2. “Worship is costly, but praise is not.” What does this mean to you? What does costly worship look like in our daily lives?
  3. In Romans 12:1, what does Paul mean when he says, “in view of God’s mercy”? Divide up into groups and take some time to skim through the headlines of Romans 1-11. Begin to list out all the things that Paul teaches the Roman Church before Romans 12. After examining this list, what are some of the benefits that we need revelation of in order to respond accordingly?
  4. What are some ways you express worship to the Lord? In his sermon, JP used an analogy of the recipient of a letter desiring more of what is written in a Hallmark card rather than the printed message already inside. When it comes to worshipping God, it is difficult for many to express what is in their hearts to the Lord (The writing on the card). Why do you think this is so?

Activity – search up the lyrics to one of your favorite worship songs. Meditate on the lyrics, and begin to write out the meaning of the song in your own words. What we are trying to do here is to express what is in your heart to the Lord in your own words.
  5. In his sermon, JP mentioned that we sometimes enter back into our ‘body bags’, or old nature, instead of living out our New Creation lives. Take some time to share how this plays out in your personal lives. In what ways do you revert back into your old ways, or the ways of your flesh?
