Discussion Questions

CG questions written by Myunghwa Choi.
(Note: CG leaders can choose to break into gender-specific groups for certain questions that may open up a lot of talks regarding sexual sin. Please use your discretion knowing the dynamic of your own CG.)

  1. When you hear the statement “God sees all things” or “He is with you at all times” what is the initial reaction in your heart? Does that make you feel loved and protected or fearful and uncomfortable? Why do you think you respond that way?
  2. Pastor Myunghwa preached that “the more we are aware of God’s presence, the bigger our fear of God will grow.” Psalm 14:1 says “the fool says in his heart, ‘there is no God.’ They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds.” How is fear of God related to our awareness of God’s presence? Have you personally experienced this in your walk with God?
  3. Pastor Myunghwa introduced the concept of “good pleasure” and “evil pleasure”. The world is after all types of pleasures, but not all pleasure can be enjoyed with God in his blessing, order, and covering. What are the evil pleasures that you have struggled with / are currently struggling with?
  4. Read Gen 3:6 and Matthew 5:28. Serious sexual sins begin with simply feeding the desire to “look”. What are the temptations we face each day in terms of what we see? How can we practically apply “look away” in our daily walks?
  5. “Sneaking around” is an appetite that God never intended for us to have. Looking back on your own upbringing, can you recall how you have developed an appetite to sneak around behind the back of the authority figures? (whether in sexual sin or in other areas?)
  6. Read Ps. 139:23-24. Share with the group if God was revealing “any grievous way” in you through the sermon. What is your thing that you are stepping outside of God’s presence to do/enjoy?
  7. God is omnipresent which means He is present everywhere at the same time. When are you most (and least) aware of God’s presence in your weekly routines? How can we practically help ourselves be more aware of His presence on daily basis? Discuss how we can cultivate an authentic, real, and uncovered intimacy with Him.
