  1. Many of us know non-Christians that have a bad taste and view of Christians and the Church. What are some reasons that you’ve heard? Do you think they are justified?
  2. According to the sermon the criteria of being salt and light is being the person described in the beatitudes. Do you think being is more important than doing? Why or Why not?
  3. The sermon points out that Christians being true Salt and Light is valuable and essential. Share about a person in your life that was Salt and Light to you.
  4. Pastor Caleb said that one quality of salt and light is that they are in the minority. “You don’t use equal parts salt and food: a pound of beef and a pound of salt. You don’t make a fire the size of a room to light that room.” How does this change your view of being salt and light in the world? What dark/bland places has God sent you into to be light/salt?
  5. The sermon points out that us being Salt and Light will be pleasing to some and reviled by others, but we must seek to remain Salt and Light. Share some ways that we can remain Salt and Light when people are repelled by our faith. Where is the balance between remaining Salt and Light and being overbearing and repulsive to ones that detest us?
  6. Read together and mediate on Matthew 5:3-11. Share which areas that you struggle with and pray for one another.
