  1. What kind of a king does Asa seem like in 1 Kings 15:9-24?
  2. 2 Chronicles goes into a more detailed look at Asa’s reign. Break up into groups and each group cover the following passages: 2 Chron 14:1-6, 2 Chron 14:9-13, 2 Chron 15:1-9, 2 Chron 15:12-17. What do these passages tell us about the Asa’s character and heart at this time?
  3. Asa’s failure comes later in life when he goes up against the King of Israel. How did he fail in his actions?
  4. Why is it important to remember what God has done? Share a testimony in your life where God showed himself strong.
  5. “9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless[b] toward him.”

  6. This passage tells us that God is actively searching for people that He can help. Has this been your understanding of God’s heart? If it is different, how do you see God in heaven? Share and discuss.
  7. The ESV version of 2 Chronicles 16:9 uses the word blameless. Why is this not a very accurate depiction of what God is looking for?
  8. What God is looking for is faith. The bible tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God. Share of a time when your faith was tested and stretched. How has this made you stronger?
  9. Share about things that you may be contending for at the retreat. Pray for each other’s faith to rise and for powerful encounters at the retreat!
