New Philly Busan
Preached by Marcus Corpening on November 9, 2014, Sunday.
Duration: 56 minutes (audio)

Discussion Questions

  1. Read Genesis 1:1-3, and John 1:1. What are the two components found for creation “in the beginning”?
  2. P. Marcus talked about what happens when people are all Word but no Spirit, or all Spirit but no Word. What were the effects? On which side of the pendulum do you often find yourself? What do you think the effects have been personally on your walk with God?
  3. Read Psalm 138:2 (in ESV, NIV, and KJV). What does David say about how God values His Word? Why do you think that is? How important are words for us in understanding a person’s character? What about God’s?
  4. Read the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:18-23). From this parable what does Satan often attack? Do you find this to be true in your own life? What are some words or promises from God that you feel Satan has attacked?
  5. Be honest with one another – how have your quiet times (or times in the Bible) been recently? Can you think of any major encounters with God that you’ve had simply by reading His Word? If so, share with one another, and pray for those who may be struggling.
  6. Do you have a Bible reading plan? Share how you normally read the Bible (both in method and frequency). As a CG, make a commitment to work through reading the Bible systematically. Choose a plan together and keep each other accountable (plans can be found at biblegateway.com)
