  3. Read John 10:5, Matthew 13:18-23, and Genesis 3:1. What do these verses show about how Satan attacks our ability to hear? Have you struggled in these ways in the past? How do you feel like Satan normally attacks the way you hear?Read John 10:1-6, 27-28. What does Jesus say characterizes those who follow him? Understanding How God Speaks

  5. Read 2 Tim 3:16, Heb 4:12. What do these passages say about the usefulness of the Bible? How often are you in the Word, and do you sense that God speaks to you through it?
  6. 1 Corinthians 14:1 says “earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.” Have you ever received a prophetic word before? Recall a time where someone prayed for you and you could sense God was powerfully speaking to you through it.
  7. P. Marcus described three ways God speaks to us in His word: Directions, Rules, and Principles. Can you think of areas in the Bible where we see each of these types exemplified? Which type do you find yourself leaning more towards?
  8. The key to all of this however, is learning how to listen – meaning to give attention to what you are hearing. Read Proverbs 2:1-2. What is one way that you can be more intentional in order to hear God?
