Discussion Questions

Agreeing With Who God Says You Are

  1. According the Sunday’s sermon, “disagreement precedes disobedience.” Do you agree? What does this say about the nature of sin?
  2. Read 1 Samuel 9-10. In what ways did Saul disagree with God? Do you think that he was acting in accordance with who he truly was?
  3. Proverbs 23:7 says, “As a man thinks in his heart, so he is.” What are some ways that you view yourself that may be negative? How does that view of yourself line up to the truth of who you are in Christ?

    Agreeing With What God Says You Need

  5. Read Genesis 16. Abraham agreed with God regarding who he was, but disagreed with God regarding what he needed to live that out. What did Abraham think he needed, and comparatively what did God think Abraham needed? Do you think it was reasonable for Abraham to do what he did? Why or why not?
  6. We often times strive for things in the natural that God desires to give to us supernaturally. Pastor Marcus shared a few testimonies during his message as to how God supernaturally provided for him. Share a time where you relied on God to provide for you outside of normal means. What was the result?
  7. Lust, covetousness, jealousy, and greed are a result of disagreeing with God regarding what you need. Do you struggle with any of these sins? If so, at the root level, where do you think that you are disagreeing with God regarding what you need?

*Spend the rest of the time praying for one another in groups of 3 to 4. Establish one another in your true identities in Christ, and contend for supernatural breakthrough in one another’s lives!
