Your Young Men Shall See Visions

And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. Even on the male and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit. -Joel 2:28-29

I had the amazing privilege to go to Chennai, India for missions with New Philly. Going into it, my team and I had a sense of how magnificent this trip would be but are still floored by all that God has done as we have spent the last week reflecting. God has written an amazing story at New Life Christian Assembly, in Chennai, in our team, and even in me.

It is evident that God is at work. I’ll list just a few highlights. Crammed in a narrow living room was a group of high caste Hindu women who snuck out to meet us for their weekly cell group meeting, telling their families that they are out at the market. They are forsaking their high status, risking persecution, and all the while testifying that the God they seek is indeed real and powerful. At a leadership seminar for the leaders at NLCA, Pastor Myunghwa preached about the baptism of the Holy Spirit . And indeed Holy Spirit came with power even before the congregants could be called to the altar. I laid my hands on a man who was beginning to shake next to me under the power of God. His movements became progressively intense until he just dropped to the ground. The man then started to manifest demonically and Pastor Myunghwa delivered him after having him release unforgiveness he had been holding against his father. The man’s countenance was completely transformed after that point! There was also this low caste village known to be “traditionally bound by satan.” Well now we call it the village “formerly bound by satan” as God brought in a harvest of about 30 genuine salvations that night, after two years of sowing.

My teammates and I went into this trip with high expectations. God delivered. We expected great team unity and we had that. We expected faith to be stirred up. We all came back much stronger in our faiths. We also wanted to see the Holy Spirit break out in power with signs and wonders. Though at one point we felt that we were almost emphasizing this too much and had to refocus on loving and not simply testimony-mongering, God delivered in this area too. He released a greater heart for His people inside all of us, and a greater compassion. In addition to all this, God matured me personally as well.

One way that I specifically wanted to grow was in hearing from God. My prayer for myself was to see what the Father was doing as Jesus said in John 5:19: “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing.” God answered even this. A few weeks before the trip I received the gift of tongues as I was praying in my room. Before leaving for the trip, Pastor Myunghwa had prophesied over me saying that I hear the father’s voice so well and that I know His voice. I don’t think I ever told her that I was specifically praying about this. She said that I would be a prophetic intercessor and that I would be the eyes of our team.

During the trip I had dreams about our team every night. It wasn’t until a few days into it that I began to record them at the suggestion of my teammates. Some of the dreams were clearly prophetic. There was one evening children’s cell group that we ministered at on a rooftop, the very same one that I had dreamed about. There were lots of other signs that night for different people. For example once, when the brothers on our team were praying for James, who would be preaching the next day, I laid my hand on him and immediately I got a vision of him relaxing under a fruit tree. When I shared this vision with James, he received it as confirmation about what he would preach on the following day. He had Galatians 5:22-23 marked in his Bible, which talks about the fruit of the spirit. Even after returning from Chennai, I’ve had clear nightly dreams about our team and other relevant things in my life.

God is also doing a powerful thing in the City of Chennai and He is reaching out to His people. The two weeks that we were there happened to coincide with the two weeks that NLCA launched their website and their video broadcasting. In short, God has been orchestrating important people to meet with Pastor Mathew, the lead pastor at NLCA. He had already divinely brought the best sound and video engineer from Norway to help him before we had arrived. And through our team, God sent our sister Heidi Chae and brother James Lee, who have experience helping with the video broadcasting at New Philly. This ministry is important because it allows for people who can’t come out to church due to persecution to have access to the Sunday services. There are so many other ways that we got to partner with all the amazing things that God is doing in Chennai, and to also receive an abundance of blessings ourselves. Mine is just one of many stories from our trip. As we pray for NLCA and Pastor Mathew, please pray specifically for the video ministry and for it to reach the masses in India and for God to reap His harvest through it.

God is doing a mighty thing in India. He is reaping His harvest and pouring out His spirit. I expected God to do big things but I wasn’t expecting such big changes in myself. God is indeed pouring out His spirit on the mission field and even on His sons both young and old. Thank you so much for making this testimony a reality. AMEN!
